WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION TO PAY TRIBUTE TO OWEN HART ON RAW IS WAR, MONDAY, MAY 24 AT 9:00 P.M. STAMFORD, CT, MAY 24, 1999 The World Wrestling Federation will provide a two-hour tribute to one of the most admired Federation superstars, Owen Hart, on "Raw is War," USA Network, Monday, May 24 at 9:00 p.m. Tonights broadcast will feature professional highlights of Owens career and commentary from WWF superstars reflecting on a friend and colleague. The World Wrestling Federation has also announced the cancellation of the encore and replay Pay-Per-View program that was scheduled for Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27. The following live events have also been cancelled: Peoria, Illinois; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Hamilton, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; and Ottawa, Ontario. Owen Harts illustrious career spanned thirteen years with the World Wrestling Federation, beginning in 1986. Throughout his career, Owen held various titles including four Tag Team Championships. Owen was also crowned King of the Ring in 1994, and was a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a one-time European Champion. The youngest of 12 children, Owen was raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada by his parents Stu and Helen Hart. Stu Hart, a former wrestler and wrestling promoter for Stampede Wrestling, trained his two sons, Owen Hart and Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Owen Hart was 34 years old and is survived by his wife Martha and two children. Vincent K. McMahon, chairman of Titan Sports, parent company of the World Wrestling Federation, stated "Our thoughts and prayers are with Owens family. We have to be strong for Owen; he was an extraordinary human being and consummate performer. The highest tribute that we can pay is to go on entertaining the fans he loved so much."
